You do not have to plan every question in advance — add one while a session is running.

Something comes up mid-lesson and you want to check whether the class has actually got it.

**When to use it:** When a question occurs to you during a session that you did not plan for.

You don’t have to write everything before the lesson. Questions can be added while a session is running — but the two session types do it differently, so check which one you are in.

## In an Engage session

**1\. Choose Add content in the bottom right.**

**2\. Choose Quiz question from the check-in types.**

This is the same drawer you post comments and reflections from — the question is one of the types in it.

**3\. Write your question and post it.**

## In a live quiz

**Choose Add question**, which appears after the final question in your question list.

**This is not the Add content button.** On a live quiz the two are separate: _Add question_ puts a new question to the class, _Add content_ posts a comment or a reflection. In an Engage session both live in the same drawer, which is why the two session types feel different here.

## When this is the right move

-   A student asks something that makes you suspect a wider misconception.
-   The class answered your planned question far better or worse than you expected, and you want to probe a level up or down.
-   You’re starting a session with two or three questions and building from there rather than planning a full set.

## Worth knowing

You can start a session with a small number of questions and add as you go. Building a fifteen-question set in advance is optional, not the expected workflow.
