Can Nurture Signal tell if a student pasted their answer?

Yes. When a student pastes text into a written answer or explanation and it is still there when they submit, Signal shows a Pasted in flag on their response and highlights the pasted words, beside how long they spent typing. Text that was pasted and then deleted is never flagged.

Can I see if a student switched tabs during a quiz?

Yes. Under each answer, Signal shows how many times the student left the session view while that question was in front of them, for example Left the view 2 times. When you post something new, a student who has clicked away hears a chime and sees a badge on their browser tab.

How do I know if a student guessed the answer?

Ask them to explain it. Signal asks every student for their reasoning, and on a Premium account it flags a correct answer as a Potential guess when the explanation says they guessed (50/50, no idea) or has no real words in it. A flagged guess counts as half in the move on, recap or reteach recommendation.

Does a flag mean the student cheated?

No. Each signal is a reason to look closer, not a verdict. A student may have pasted their own notes or checked a resource you shared. Signal only records what happens in the session: it never sees other tabs, apps, the student’s screen or a second device.

Which plan do I need?

Pasted in flags, typing time, the Left the view count and away alerts are on every Nurture Signal account, and you can mark any response as a guess yourself. Automatic guess flags and low-effort detection are part of Premium, which the Nurture team sets up for you or your school.

Can students see the flags?

No. Flags are only shown to you. They never appear on the presenter screen or to other students, and you can change any of them from the response’s menu.
