Can teachers connect an AI assistant to their Signal data?

Privacy and safety

Yes, unless your school has switched it off. From the Connect AI agent page, a teacher can connect an AI assistant, such as Claude, to their own Signal data. They can then ask it about their classes and sessions in plain language.

The assistant only sees what that teacher can see. Student names and email addresses can be hidden from it, and a school can require that for every teacher. Hiding names can’t remove a name a student has typed into an answer.

The assistant follows its own provider’s terms, so your school may want to review those before allowing it.
