Signal runs as separate deployments, and your school’s data is stored in the one deployment that serves it.
Our cloud deployments are in Australia, the European Union and the United States. Data is always stored in Microsoft Azure, in that deployment’s region. A school or school system can also run Signal entirely in its own Azure tenancy, where its own subscription holds everything.
Some processing takes place outside the region, for example sign-in emails and AI features. The sub-processors page lists each deployment, each provider and what leaves the region.
