Pair students up on one device and ask them to agree an answer together. This works especially well for hinge questions: to agree an answer, students have to explain their reasoning to each other, which is the thinking you want. If guests are allowed, ask each pair to type both names when they join, so you know who answered.
You’ll see one response per pair rather than per student, so treat the results as a picture of the room rather than of each individual.
A low-tech mode is in preview with a small number of schools. Students hold up printed answer cards, and you scan the room from your own device, so only the teacher needs a device. It works in Live Quizzes with multiple choice questions.
