The student experience
Yes. Students can paste into written answers and explanations, and there’s no setting to block it.
When a student pastes text into a written answer, their browser reports it to Signal. If the pasted text is still there when they submit, their response shows a Pasted in flag and the pasted words are highlighted, beside how long they spent typing. Text pasted as plain text is flagged too. Text that was pasted and then deleted is never flagged.
Signal only records what happens in the session: it never sees other tabs, apps, the student’s screen or another device. A student may have pasted their own notes, so treat a flag as a reason to talk to them, not a verdict.
