Running sessions
Yes.
- On an open answer question, choose a short, medium or long answer, or set your own minimum number of characters. Students can’t send an answer shorter than that.
- On a multiple choice question, you can ask students for a reason. Make the reason required and you can set a minimum length for it too.
In an Assessment, the confidence comment and reflection at the end also have a minimum length. Open check-ins in Engage sessions don’t have one.
A minimum stops one-word answers, but length isn’t quality. Signal also flags low-effort answers, so you can follow up on answers that are long but say little.
