How to Publish Feedback and Choose Reflection Types in Nurture

Once you have reviewed your students, this tutorial covers publishing feedback to your class and choosing how students reflect on it. Reflection is how students unlock their grade.

A class-wide view before you publish

In the publish space, you can see how many students you are about to publish to. At the bottom, you also get a clear picture of which success criteria most students struggled with. This is a simple way to see where your class is as a whole, so you know what to work on with the group next.

Publishing and choosing a reflection type

Click Publish Feedback. You are asked to choose the student reflection type. You only get to choose this once, the first time you publish feedback on a task, and it applies to the whole class. You cannot change it for later publishes.

Two options:

• Emoji reflection: students select how they felt about their feedback (disappointed, neutral, or happy) and can add a comment. Quick and simple.
• 3-2-1 reflection: students still get the emoji, plus three reflection questions: three things they learned, two things they found interesting, and one question they still have. More in-depth.

Recommendation: for a class’s first time using Nurture, start with the emoji reflection. There is less for students to do, and it eases them into the habit of reflecting.

Click Confirm. Your students move from reviewed to published. They can now see their feedback and the success criteria they need to work on, but their grade stays hidden until they complete their reflection.

Editing feedback after publishing

You can edit feedback after publishing, but only until a student has reflected on it. Any change you make updates immediately for the student, with no need to republish. Once a student reflects, their feedback is locked and cannot be changed.
