How to Configure Feedback Settings for Your Tasks

Before you assign a task to students, you should configure your feedback settings. These tell the Nurture AI Assistant how to generate feedback and grading for every student on this task.

This is important because the Assistant does not have memory between individual student chats. That is a deliberate data privacy measure: one student’s chat should never influence another student’s feedback. So if you find yourself typing the same instruction for every student, feedback settings are where that instruction belongs.

How to access feedback settings

Open the task and find the feedback settings section. Configure it before you assign to students. You can add settings later and get the Assistant to regenerate feedback, but it is much easier to set them up first.

What you can configure

Reading age: pulled from your classroom settings, but you can change it here. This affects both the feedback comments and the grading/score breakdown.

Custom instructions for feedback comments: this only affects the personal feedback comment, not the grading. You can set the format or tone for all students. For example: “for every student, please give two stars and a wish as the format of the comment.”

Comment length: the default is between 120 and 150 words. You can increase it up to around 300 for more detailed feedback, or lower it for younger students or lighter tasks.

Feedback language: the default is English. You can change this to any language on the list. If a language is missing, reach out to us and we can add it.

Feedback in a second language: switch this on and select a second language. The Assistant will generate the feedback comment in English first, then generate the same comment again in the second language. Useful for language subjects or for students where English is a second language.

Tip on second language feedback: because this setting applies to all students on the task, if you only need it for a few students, create a duplicate task using a task code. Set the second language on the duplicate, and assign it to just those students. Assign the original (without the second language) to the rest of the class.

Marking scheme and rubric: these are reflected from whatever you have already set on the task. They are shown here as a reminder of what the Assistant will use when grading. The marking scheme and rubric only affect grading, not the feedback comment.
